Prof. Dr. Rolf Pfeifer

Diplom in Physik und Mathematik, sowie Doktorat in Informatik an der ETH Zürich. Drei Jahre als Postdoctoral Fellow in den USA an der Carnegie-Mellon University und an der Yale University.

Seit 1987 Professor am Institut für Informatik der Universität Zürich und Direktor des Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

Nach Gastprofessuren und Forschungsaufenthalten an der Free University of Brussels, dem MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, dem Beijing Open Laboratory for Cognitive Sience, dem Neurosciences Institute (NSI) in San Diego, und dem Sony Computer Science Laboratory in Paris, Wahl zum "21st Century COE Professor, Information Science and Technology" an der University of Tokyo für 2003/2004.

Aus Tokyo, die erste globale, voll interaktive videokonferenz-basierte Vorlesungsreihe "The AI Lectures from Tokyo" (einschliesslich Tokyo, Beijing, Jeddah, Warschau, München, and Zürich).

Forschungsinteressen in den Bereichen Embodiment, Biorobotik, simulierte Evolution und Morphogenese, Selbstorganisation und selbst-rekonfigurierende Systeme, sowie “Educational Technologies”.
